With a rich history, Tiberias boasts wonderful ancient ruins juxtaposed with modern day attractions. One of the most wondrous places to see is the Sea of Galilee.

Tiberias, an ancient city named after Emperor Tiberius in 20 CE, is situated on the western shore of Lake Kinneret, or the Sea of Galilee, in Israel. At first sight, the tourist may be overwhelmed by its peaceful aspect, mostly because its history is so meaningful to so many; it glows with a spiritual air that the visitor will feel, whether the fascination is for its history, religious connection or physical geography.

Sunset on the Sea of Galilee delights the eye as the sparkling waters glisten in the light. The skies reflect their color in the water. At sunset, the golds, pinks, blues, and dusty grays glow in the skies and on the lake. Waiting for the sunset hour will be worth the sightseer’s while.

Around the lake, across the surrounding roads, bursts of bougainvillea grow abundantly. The orange, pink, peach and white colors of these spectacular flowers are almost a darkened version of the colors of the sunset on the waters. The photographs below show the fantastic colors of these plants.

Hotels of all sizes and star ratings, motels and the YMCA, cater to visitors on all budgets and attract a year-round clientele that comes to bathe their eyes on this unique place that brings with it an exclusive story with religious and historical implications.
